Half-Day Preschool
1's and 2's General Daily Routine:
- 8:45am Arrival
- Free choice
- Morning Routine: "Hello" Song, name tags, weather check, and basic concepts
- Teacher directed activities/lesson
- Movement or Drama
- Craft
- Story Time
- 10:50am - 11:30am Washing Hands and Snack Time
- Outside (inside on rainy/wet days)
- Free Choice and Diapering
- Rhymes/Music
- Dismissal Routine: Pack up, "Good Bye" Song, sticker or prize, parent pick-up
3's, 4's, and 5's General Daily Routine:
- 9:00am Arrival
- Free choice
- Clean-up and "Hello" or "Good Morning" Song
- Morning Routine -"Hello" song, "Helper" song, calendar, weather, flash cards/sight words game, basic concepts. Show N' Tell
- Special Classes (examples: gymnastics, music, art, etc.)
- 11:00am -11:30am Washing Hands and Snack Time
- Outside (inside on rainy/wet days)
- Group Time
- Teacher Directed Activities/lesson
- Craft and/or Story Time
- Dismissal Routine: Backpacks and Jackets,
summary of the day, sticker/stamp/prize, parent pick-up
Each student will bring daily:
- Their FULL SIZE back-pack
- A complete weather appropriate clean change of clothes (including undergarments and socks)
- A snack or lunch, napkin, "cloth placemat" and cup - we provide a beverage of milk or water (They will have approx. 25 minutes to eat it.)
- A different Show N' Tell item each day (can be as simple as a birthday card, sticker, shoe lace, brochure, etc.)
Potty Training (for 3, 4 and 5 year olds): Children MUST BE potty trained to enter the 3's, 4's, and 5's classes. We understand accidents occasionally happen, which is one of the reasons why the change of clothes is required. However, the students must be able to use the restrooms on their own with little to no guidance.
Holiday Celebrations: Young Leaner Preschool does honor, discuss, and/or celebrate major holidays, including: Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Earth Day, Mother's Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, and New Year's Day.
Birthdays: Parents are welcome to honor and celebrate their child's birthday by bringing a cake/snack to share with everyone during snack time.
Attire: Shoes should be a style which are comfortable for "running" (i.e., tennis shoes, rain or winter boots). Socks are preferred since shoes are not worn indoors.
We advise parents to dress their children in casual, comfortable, weather appropriate clothes. Please keep in mind that crafting accidents can happen. We use washable/water soluble crafting colors. All children are adorable in our eyes, no matter what they wear.
