On your first visit, our staff will gather your health history.
Your doctor will perform a physical examination and take some x-rays
to determine if your problem can best be treated by chiropractic
techniques.
Health History
During your initial visit, we will ask about your general health,
your neck and back symptoms, any prior neck injury and treatment,
and your family history of health problems. Other questions may
focus on your type of work, physical activities, and diet. Feel
free to ask your chiropractor any questions you may have about your
problem.
Physical Examination
A physical examination helps your doctor assess your general health
and spinal alignment. A technique called motion palpation is used
to evaluate joints by their feel and to uncover stiffness, pain,
muscle spasm, and limited range of motion in your neck. Sensation,
reflexes and muscle strength may also be tested.
X-rays
X-rays offer a detailed view of your spine and helps to reveal misalignments
(called subluxations) of your vertebrae. X-rays help your doctor
determine the type of adjustments you need and can rule out the
possibility of other bone problems.
Individual Treatment Plan & Diagnosis
The sum of all information gained from the health history, physical
examination and x-rays are used for diagnosing the problem and developing
a specific treatment plan for your particular problem. In addition,
daily activities of life are evaluated such as posture, lifting,
exercising and work station being ergonomically correct.
