Crepe Myrtles

June 27th at 10:00 am

Crepe Myrtles are : a large tree, a medium tree, a small tree, a bush and a groundcover. They come in a variety of colors : red, pink, watermelon, lavender, purple, white and some are variegated.  Crepe Myrtles came originally from Asia.  The National Arboretum has developed new varieties that are more cold hardy and more disease resistance than the Asian ones.  Crepe Myrtles are probably the most misunderstood plant growing in the Midsouth.  Folks have all kinds of questions : Why doesn't my crepe myrtle bloom in the shade? What's wrong, the bark is coming off? When is the correct time to trim? Do I need to deadhead the blooms? Plato Touliatos will have answers for these questions and much more information.  Come learn and enjoy!!
