ABOUT US
Expert Care
At Stuart Nursing and Restorative Care Center, our professional staff gives each resident the care and attention they need 24 hours a day. Our highly experienced staff includes a multitude of licensed professional individuals who have been serving the community for many years. Rehabilitation services such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, i.v. and wound care therapy are also available here, as are counseling services to help residents and their and families adjust to, and accept, new lifestyle changes.
Admission and Discharge Policy
It is our policy to provide support to the resident and the family on admission. Our Social Service department is equipped to handle all the needs of our residents and their families. Upon admission, evaluations and assessments are done by our trained staff to ascertain our resident’s physical, emotional, psychological, and social needs.
Each resident must have an attending physician who is willing to visit the facility as often as required by law. We also assist families when arrangements for home care are necessary. It is respectfully requested that the facility be given at least a three (3) days notice on all discharges.
Safety, Comfort, Respect, Dignity
Four elements that we not only require, but deserve. This is our philosophy at Stuart Nursing and Restorative Care Center, and you can feel it as soon as you walk through our doors. We believe that focusing on these four elements has been vital to our success and reputation over the years.
Growing Gracefully
This is what we want for our residents. Whether you are here for a long or short period of time, we hope to assist you in every way we can to meet your needs. We are very proud of our 35-plus year tradition of providing a caring, compassionate environment for seniors in need. Let us welcome you.

Stuart Nursing and Restorative Care Center Celebrates 36 Years!
Tucked behind a modest fade in Stuart is one of the most extraordinary, loving, giving places in Martin County, the Stuart Nursing and Restorative Care Center. The facility will be celebrating its 36th anniversary on March 17th. Living within the walls, are a very special blend of long term care residents, mostly octogenarians, a few centurions and several pre-retirement age. One gentleman served with General George Patton in WWII, while there is also retired teachers, nurses, engineers, aeronautical workers, PhD’s, inventors and patent holders, and a myriad of great moms, dads, grandparents, and great grandparents.
A large “support family group” of spouses and children meet monthly with Sue Burbine, social service director for 23 years; her devotion to residents is unique and tireless. Medical direction is provided by Dr. Richard Dube, Medical Director Dr. Howard Robbins, Head Hospitalist Dr. Michael Sherman, Dr. John Koors, Dr. Paul Gaeta, Dr. Mahrag Thanvi, Dr. Hope Eliot, Drs. John Sr., John Jr., Joseph, Paul Schoppe, Dr. Geraldo Grande and Dr. Robert Traynor.
Rehabilitation is professional and successful thanks to a talented professional rehabilitation staff supervised by Alan Roland, Physical Therapist Clinician of the Year 2003, well-known and revered in the area. As a nursing home, Stuart Nursing and Restorative Care Center is a warm and caring place to spend one’s twilight years, or even spend a few respite care days, among staff that treat long-term care residents like family with special nurturing and individual kindness.
The fact that 25 percent of the staff has five or more years of service compliments not only the work atmosphere, but also adds to the attention the residents receive. As Stuart Nursing and Restorative Care Center celebrates its 36th anniversary, it would like to especially acknowledge the following employees.
Margaret Brown, C.N.A., 35 years; Greg Schiener, maintenance director, 30 years; Yolanda Cosme, activities director, 29 years; Wanda Jones, kitchen manager, 28 years; Suzanne Lambert, R.N., 26 years; Lynn Garwood, L.P.N., 26 years; Donna Bartnik, L.P.N., 25 years; June Galebach, R.N., 22 years; Pat McFadden, C.N.A., 21 years; and Debbie Destefano, C.N.A., 20 years.
We work day-to-day with a visionary staff with many experienced veterans and many new enthusiastic employees in the health care field. Activities Director Yolanda Cosme usually has the day-to-day activities such as in room visits, games like trivia, Jeopardy, shuffleboard, Bingo, reading group, parties and special theme dinners. The new Nintendo Wii, with individual and team points, has brought extra enthusiasm and friendly competition. Day-to-day leadership comes from Gordon Nedwed, Administrator for four years; Rochelle Osbourne, D.O.N.A., seven years; Janel Weigt, R.N., ADON for 6 years; and Helen Burk, L.P.N., clinical coordinator for five years.
