Jurney & Associates, Inc. used to do business as Kent C. Jurney & Associates and was founded in 1976 as a polygraph company providing pre-employment and specific polygraph services to corporate clients such as the Coca-Cola Company, the Henry Lee Company, Jefferson’s National Bank, First Union Bank, Mayor’s Jewelers, and an array of other clients from Fortune 500 companies such as the Dial Corporation to smaller businesses.
The company incorporated as Kent C. Jurney Security Consultants in 1984 and in 1989, the name was changed to Certified Security Services, Inc., at which time the company expanded into a total security service company.
Between 1975 and 1988, Mr. Kent C. Jurney, Sr., while working as a full-time professor at Miami-Dade Community College, worked on his own pre-employment polygraph screening and specific polygraph testing programs, and simultaneously worked as an Associate with Slattery Associates, Inc. With the change that resulted from the Employee Polygraph Protection Act, the focus of the company moved to all types of pre-employment screening services including substance abuse testing, psychological profile testing, background investigations and general investigations.
Today, the company provides pre-employment and specific polygraph testing to law enforcement and county agencies such as the Miami-Dade Police Department, Miami-Dade County Corrections and Rehabilitation Department, Miami-Dade Transit Department, The Village of Key Biscayne Police Department, The City of Coral Gables Police and Fire Department, and The City of Hialeah Police Department. We also serve public and state attorneys’ offices (for criminal and in-depth investigations), private attorneys and private companies.
Our polygraph office has four polygraph examination rooms to accommodate the needs of the county and other agencies. We have six polygraph examiners who are bilingual in Spanish and English and a complete administrative support staff.
