About Us

Spring Valley Animal Hospital provides comprehensive veterinary services for the convenience of our clients. Serving Columbia’s pet community since 1978, our staff includes, full and part-time vet techs as well as an on-site groomer. We provide a general medical practice that includes surgical, dental, emergency services during business hours and a full grooming and boarding facility.

We board animals at Spring Valley Animal Hospital as a service for our clients on a reservation basis. Each animal is kept in an individual cage in our air-conditioned and heated facility and each cage is cleaned daily with a disinfectant for your pet's health. All animals are fed daily with a well-balanced diet. Special diets and medications can be accommodated upon request for a small fee.

Lauren Turnage

Erin

Erin Mahan
Master Groomer

Duties/Responsibilities:
Dog and cat groomer: specialty haircuts, maintenance grooming, sedation grooming. I also look for any apparent health issues that the doctor needs to know about.

Education/Professional Training/Accreditations
Graduated from S.C. School of Dog Grooming in December 2005. Apprenticed at Rainbow Grooming in Columbia. I was also a groomer at Diva Dogs, which won Columbia’s best runner-up for dog grooming in 2007. Now I am working here and loving it!

Hobbies/Personal Information:
I have my own menagerie at home; Titus, a 2-year-old Bulldog mix and Shalico, a one-year-old Mini Dachshund, and three Armadillo Gilded-tail Lizards: Poncho Peyote, Godzilla, and Rosie O’Donnell. I also have a Bearded Dragon named Diamonds and two Brackbear hamsters named Pedro and Petunia.

My hobbies are painting (I did an 8’x8’ mural on my mother-in-law's living-room wall!) and jewelry making. I am originally from Nashville, Tennessee, and have been living here since July 2005.

I am originally from Georgia, but have lived in Columbia for about 30 years. I love working at Spring Valley Animal Hospital and have been here for 10 years. I love spending time with my poodle Tommie, my bird Chevy, and my cat George. My husband and I love to travel and spend a lot of time in the mountains. We also show cars, so we are always traveling to different shows.

Shannon Crowley
Full-time veterinary technician

Duties/Responsibilities:
Restrain animals, draw blood, run lab work, take x-rays, prep and assist for surgical procedures, dental prophylaxis, care for hospitalized pets and animals in boarding, fill prescriptions

I enjoy spending time with my husband Brandon, and our 4-month old son, Caleb. We also have a 10-year old hound mix, Dakota. I am a very family oriented person and enjoy having large family get-togethers. I was born in Sumter, South Carolina, but have lived in Columbia most of my life.

Shana Fleming
Vet Tech

I am a certified Veterinarian Assistant. I graduated from Midland Technical College, and I am certified in dog first aid. I also have a cosmetology license.

Hobbies/Personal Information:

I enjoy spending time with my dogs Royal (pit bull), Bronse (pit bull), Diamond (pit bull), and Cujo (chihuahua). I enjoy fishing and doing hair. I’ve lived in Columbia for nine years. Originally from Washington, D.C.

Coordinate staff schedules, hiring duties, order and maintain inventory, client relations. Restrain pets, run lab work, blood draws, prep and assist for surgical procedures, perform dental prophylaxis, take x-rays, and care for hospitalized and boarding animals.

Hobbies/Personal Information:

I am originally from Brick, New Jersey. I moved to Columbia in 1991 to attend the Master of Social Work program at USC. I have worked at Spring Valley Animal Hospital since April of 1992. I am a single mom living with my daughter Kayla (age 13) and my three dogs – Jerry (golden retriever), Stacey (collie), and Coconut (mix) and two cats – Peeps and Sunny. I enjoy music, dance, yoga, and reading in my spare time as well as attending Kayla’s horse shows.
