Appointments
Reception area

To make an appointment please call our telephone number at (803) 642-9204 between 8:15 am and 5:00 pm Monday-Friday. To find our office please go back to the main page and find map locator. We will see your child for sick visits usually on the day you call or our triage nurse is available to answer any questions that you may have.

Our physicians are on call for any emergency that may occur after hours, weekends and holidays. We are open on Saturday from 9:00 am to 11:00 and Sunday 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm for sick visits only. No appointment will be taken and it is first come, first served. There is no triage nurse available. All preventive check-ups need to be scheduled at least 2 months in advance. Should you be late for a preventive check-up you may be asked to reschedule. It is not fair to the patients who were on time for their appointments to make them wait so that we may fit you in. Well child visits are scheduled every 30 minutes and take at least 30 minutes for the proper exam and appropriate immunizations to be given.

Waiting Rooms

Waiting Room

We have three waiting rooms for you and your child's convenience. Sick, Well, and Teen waiting rooms. Please use the well waiting room only for well child visits. The sick waiting room is for children with an illness. We don’t want to unnecessarily expose a well child to an illness in our office. Please be courteous.

Are you Pregnant?

The doctors at Southside Pediatrics of Aiken, LLC offer free prenatal visits. This will give you the opportunity to meet the physician prior to your delivery and ask any questions that you may have about our practice. Please call and schedule an appointment. We suggest meeting with the physician around 28 weeks gestation.

Newborns

It is recommended that all newborns be seen by the physician at 2 weeks of age for a well child check-up. Of course, should you think your child needs to be seen earlier please call our office and schedule an appointment. At the 2 week well child check-up your child will have his/her height and weight measured as well as the head circumference taken. The doctor will also do a physical exam on your child as well as check the umbilicus and circumcision and go over any breast feeding or formula questions that you may have as well. Please write down any other questions that you may have so that you can be sure to get all of your questions answered.

Infections can be especially dangerous in a child under the ago of two months. Should you observe any of the following please call your Physician right away.

Signs to watch out for any possible infection in the newborn or infant under 2 months of age:
  • Rectal temperature of 100.5 F or >
  • Weak cry
  • Poor skin color
  • Poor feeding
  • Listlessness
  • Fussiness (unusual)
  • Vomiting or diarrhea
  • Sleeping more than usual

Preventive Health Visits/Well Child Visit

It is very important that you have your child seen by the physician not only at the 2 week newborn visit but also at 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, and 2 years and then every year of life. Your young child will grow the most in his or her first two years of life more than they will at any other time in their life. It is imperative that your child not only receive the proper immunizations on a timely schedule but that they are developing physically and appropriate developmental milestones are met. Please visit the American Academy of Pediatrics website at www.aap.org.
