Questions and Answers

Do you accept referrals?

We are happy to accept referrals to our practice. We consider it a great compliment when patients refer their families and friends for their dental care.

Do you accept my insurance plan?

Our practice has computerized access to determine most dental insurance programs used by major employers. Our goal is to assist you in maximizing your insurance benefits.

What precautions do you take to ensure patient safety?

At Somerville Dental Associates our team closely adheres to and exceeds sterilization and infection control procedures as outlined by the American Dental Association and Centers for Disease Control. This goes beyond wearing gloves and face masks to prevent passing germs. It includes a specialized sanitation center and a water filtration system that guarantees a fresh water source for each patient.

I really don’t like visiting the dentist. Is there anything you can do to help me relax?

We strive to create a relaxing environment by understanding your concerns so that we can help alleviate them. We offer soothing nitrous oxide and/or a prescription sedative before treatments for patients who are extremely anxious.

How can I directly ask one of the doctors’ questions?

We encourage our patients to have open, direct communication with Dr. Holcomb. If you have questions that we haven’t addressed here, please feel free to contact them by e-mail.

Why do I need to have my wisdom teeth removed?

If they are impacted, you may not even know you have wisdom teeth – until pain suddenly strikes. The pain may be caused by an infection or pressure on the gum or an adjacent tooth. Late, partially erupting wisdom teeth may cause crowding or shifting of your teeth or bite. You may not know that your developing wisdom teeth are pushing on the roots of adjacent teeth – until these teeth start to shift and supporting bones are destroyed. If your wisdom teeth do erupt, they may be hard to clean, so the odds of decay or infection of surrounding gum tissue are high. Whether you have obvious symptoms or not, you can rely on Dr. Holcomb’s expertise to diagnose existing or potential problems caused by your wisdom teeth.

What payment options do you provide?

We strive to make your dental care financially comfortable so that expense does not prevent you from benefiting from the quality of care you deserve and desire. We therefore have developed the following financial options:

Prepay courtesy for advance payment of proposed treatment

▪ Visa, MasterCard, and Discover

▪ Easy Financing

Can you tell me more about crowns and veneers?

To restore teeth, we can apply an all porcelain crown that covers the entire outside of the problem tooth. And we can restore front teeth to their natural shapes and shades by applying paper-thin porcelain veneers.
