Darren G. Koch, D.D.S.
Dr. Koch is a graduate of The Rochester Institute of Technology where he received a B.S. degree with highest honors in the field of Biotechnology.
He pursued his dental training at The University at Buffalo and earned his D.D.S. degree with honors in 2001 while graduating in the top 15% of his class. During dental school, Dr. Koch received scholarships based on academic performance and professional service, as well as awards for excellence in restorative dentistry and periodontology. He also completed externships in both pediatric dentistry and oral surgery at local hospitals in the Buffalo area.
In order to obtain additional training in cosmetic and implant dentistry, Dr. Koch completed a one year advanced general dentistry residency at UNC-Chapel Hill. Upon completion of the program, he performed locum tenens work in the Triangle area as well as an associateship with Dr. Jack Mullen in Rocky Mount, NC. In April 2003, he purchased a general dentistry practice in Apex, NC where he currently works full time.
Dr. Koch is a member of the American Dental Association, North Carolina Dental Society, and the Fourth District Dental Society of Raleigh/Wake County. He actively pursues countless hours of continuing education per year in order to learn new techniques and to stay current with the rapidly changing field of dentistry.
Dr. Koch's hobbies include playing tennis and volleyball, watching NFL football and NBA basketball, playing acoustic and electric guitar, movies, travel, and computers.
Jennifer "Taffy" Heins, DA II, CDA
Taffy is Dr. Koch's full time dental assistant who has certifications from UNC. She brings 26 years of experience to the practice. Our patients appreciate her cheerful demeanor and gentle touch during clinical procedures.
Taffy has training in early childhood education. She loves spending time with her friends, two sons and two adorable grandchildren. Her interests include traveling, cooking, community volunteering, and participating in church activities.
Anne Bastille, Office Manager
Anne is Dr. Koch's full time office manager who will assist you with appointment scheduling, filing of dental insurance, patient financing, and other administrative tasks essential to the practice. She brings over 18 years of experience to the practice and a cheerful willingness to always "go the extra mile" to help our patients.
Anne's business background also consists of being a previous owner of a home childcare, which she did for the last three years. She has exceptional management and organizational skills.
When not at work, Anne enjoys spending time with her family. She likes camping, going to the beach, and exercising.
Tonya Thomas, RDH
Tonya is Dr. Koch's Registered Dental Hygienist. She graduated in 1998 from Tarrant County College in Texas with an associate degree in Dental Hygiene. She brings 10 years of experience and a pleasant personality to our practice.
Outside of the office, Tonya enjoys spending time with her husband and children. Her hobbies include making home improvements, traveling to tropical places, and working out.
