| Sensei Kevin Kent opened Satori Defensive Tactics and Consulting in June 2003. The focus of this division of Satori is on providing corporations, law enforcement agencies and security agencies with consultative services and Defensive Tactics Instruction.
Mr. Kent began training privately with Shihan Pukish in 1996. He has served with many law enforcement agencies as a SWAT Team Leader, member of the Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) and founder of the K9 Drug Interdiction for Roswell Police Force and Dawson County. He has assisted Shihan Pukish in SWAT Training for the Roswell SWAT Team. Recently, Shihan Pukish visited Satori Trinidad to assist Sensei Kent with the grand opening of their new training facility. A number of dignitaries and VIPs were on hand to take part in the ceremony.

Attending the grand opening of Satori Trinidad were a number of important
government officials and VIPs. Shihan Pukish meets with the Sports Commissioner.
Also a traditional Indian Tassa band provided entertainment and some of the
Satori Trinidad students couldn’t help but get in on the act.

After the ceremony it was back to work as Shihan Pukish taught a defensive
tactics and Jiu Jitsu seminar to the students of Satori Trinidad.

Satori of Whitehouse

Shihan Pukish and Sensei Eugene du Plessis recently traveled to Satori of Whitehouse to work with the students and Renshi Penn on the finer points of the karate and jiu jitsu curriculum.
In 2004 Renshi John Penn opened Satori of Whitehouse in Toledo, Ohio. Renshi Penn, a very experienced Shuri Ryu Karate and Shinto Yoshin Jiu Jitsu practitioner joined forces with Satori International to expand his martial arts programs and services by opening a full time facility. Renshi Penn had previously operated a martial arts program out of the YMCA for a period of 10 years before deciding to pursue his love of the martial arts full time. He continues to operate from the YMCA as well as a number of other satellite locations as a means of providing a much needed service to the community.

Shihan Pukish and Renshi Penn recently hosted a women's Fight Back course at the Satori Whitehouse location. The Fight Back course is a three-hour hands-on workshop with each participant practicing the techniques until they become second nature. These skills do not require athletic ability to master and are appropriate for women of all ages, with minimal physical fitness levels. A question and answer period is reserved at the end of each workshop to get your input and specific concerns that may come up in the course.

Both Kevin Kent and John Penn have an ongoing relationship with Pete Pukish as they continue to develop their programs, curriculums and martial arts skills, drawing from the principles of teaching and training that has developed the outstanding reputation associated with the Satori name. It is an honor to be associated with Sensei Kent, Renshi Penn, and all of their hard working, talented students.
Satori International is not concerned with expanding for the sake of numbers, but will always be looking to align itself with quality martial arts Instructors and students. Both of these fine gentlemen have established dojos that exemplify the level of professionalism and ethics, matched with the enthusiasm and drive that makes Satori Martial Arts Centers so unique.
