Transmission Maintenance Tips

Maintaining your transmission is just as important as getting your oil changed. Here are a few things to help you avoid early transmission damage:

Check out your owner's manual then schedule regular maintenance checks according to the instructions
When checking your oil or having it changed, have your transmission checked as well
Never drive your vehicle if the transmission fluid is low or, even worse, empty
Never shift from drive to reverse while the automobile is moving.
With front wheel drive cars, issues can arise if you spin your tires in a turn
If you suspect transmission problems, don’t drive the vehicle. This could cause further problems.
Do not put your vehicle in 4x4 on dry pavement unless vehicle is all-wheel or automatic 4x4
Your vehicle should come to a complete stop before moving into another range of gear.
Driving on spare or mismatched tires with front wheel or all-wheel drive could damage your transmission over an extended period of time.
