Vivian Lee Reynolds Crowder, 94, entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 28, 2008.  We were blessed with her gentle spirit and smile, her love for her family, faithfulness to Christ and her church.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, 40 Church Street, Asheville, NC since 1936.

     A lifelong resident of Asheville, she was the daughter of the late William and Norma Turnbull Reynolds, and wife of the late James Crowder.  She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Berman; a sister, Norma Bora; and three brothers:  William, Joseph, and Lewis Reynolds.  She was formerly employed with the Farmers Federation and the Biltmore Company.

     Surviving are a son, James Crowder and wife, Betsy, of Raleigh, NC; a daughter, Dorothy Miles and husband, Louis, of Asheville; a grandson, Jeff Berman and wife, Christina; four granddaughters:  Kelly Pierce and husband, Larry, Lisa Clough and husband, Chris, Melissa Reese and husband, Sean, and Elizabeth Anne Crowder; seven great-grandchildren:  Tessa Rinn, Christopher Poole, Melissa and Jordan Clough, Taylor Berman, Ella Rose, and Liam Reese; three nephews:  Tom, Frank and Bill Reynolds and their families.

    Thanks to special friends Jim and Teresa Niles, Louise Glittone, June Dale, Mary Faith Carson, Mary Raney-Moore, Janie Bass, Margaret Torrence, Joann Werhan, and the staffs of John F. Keever Solace Center, and Laurels of Summit Ridge.

     A funeral service will be 11:00 am Monday, December 1, 2008, in the Campbell Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church of Asheville.  The Rev. Margaret Torrence will officiate. Joint interment services for Mrs. Crowder and her daughter, Joyce Berman, who died on November 12, 2008, will follow in Lewis Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
