Lois T. Kica, 80, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at her residence.

     She is preceded in death by her husband, George S. Kica; her daughter, Lauren Small; her father, the former Chief of Police of East Rutherford, NJ, Arthur Thonack; her mother Jule Thonack; and her sister Jule Bullis.

     Survivors include her five children, Paul Kica of Asheville, John Kica of Asheville, Joni Hartsell of Weaverville, Julie Johns and her husband Steve of Black Mtn., and Mary Caldwell and her husband Jim of McDonough, GA; a sister, Joan Arata of St. Petersburg, FL; eight grandchildren, Aaron, Joshua, Rachel, Ethan, James, Maris, Stephen, and Rylee; and a former son-in-law, Tony Hartsell.

     A memorial mass will be held 11:00AM, Monday, August 18, 2008 at St. Eugene Catholic Church with Rev. John Schneider officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Morris Funeral Home, 304 Merrimon Avenue.  At other times, the family will be at 39 Bluff Cove Road in Weaverville.
