Lillian Kimmel nee Thomas, age 95 died peacefully on August 12, 2008. She lived a long and fruitful life, leaving her family and friends after a brief and courageous struggle with the difficulties of old age. She was predeceased by her husband, Ted Kimmel in 1969 and son, Douglas also in 1969. She leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Cynthia Kimmel and a daughter, Paula McHugh, both living in Asheville. Lillian was also blessed with 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. A true woman of the West, she had many stories and loved to tell them with vivid expressions. She entertained those she knew with singing, piano playing, dancing, and storytelling. Lillian was born in Muskogee, OK and spent her married life in Las Vegas NV before coming to Asheville in 1987. She resided at Brooks Howell Home for the last 2 years. Lillian loved music, politics, her family, and travel, recently having to give up Rome for Dillsboro. Constantly cheerful and grateful, she was a joy to be with and leaves good memories. There will be an 11:00AM memorial service on Thursday, August 14^th at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 223 Hillside Street, with Rev. In-Yong Lee.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
