WILLIAM C. MOUSHEY



 

     William Clarence Moushey, 80, of Knoll Dr., died Thursday, July 24, 2008, in the Memorial Mission Hospital.  A native of St. Louis, Missouri, he was the son of the late Clarence and Loretta Bleines Moushey.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Janet Nocar Moushey; a daughter, Leslie Anne Moushey; a brother, Michael Clarence Moushey; and his stepfather, James W. Irwin.

 

     Mr. Moushey was a graduate of Washington University, St. Louis; Case Western Reserve, Cleveland; and the State University of New York, Buffalo; he was also a member of Phi Kappa Tau fraternity.  Having served with distinction in the U. S. Coast Guard during WWII, he helped establish the Radio School for the USCG in Groton, Connecticut.  He was a retired electrical engineer and marketing manager with the Westinghouse and ITI Corporations.

 

     An avid supporter of his community, Mr. Moushey volunteered with Meals on Wheels, and was a board member and volunteer for Food for Fairview.  He was a longtime member of St. Eugene’s Catholic Church, where he also served as a greeter and reader of Scripture.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and appeared in local religious theatrical productions.

 

     Survivors include a daughter and three sons:  Susan Moushey Lattin of Curlew, Washington, Michael Paul Moushey of Tampa, Florida, James Joseph Moushey of Atlanta, Georgia, and David William Moushey of Arden, North Carolina; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and special friend, Rita Clark of Asheville, North Carolina.

 

     A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 31, 2008, at St. Eugene’s.  Father John Schneider will officiate.  Inurnment in the church columbarium will be at a later date.
