JOHN "JACK" WOODHOUSE, JR.



     John “Jack” Woodhouse, Jr., 78, of Webb Cove Road, died unexpectedly Saturday morning June 21, 2008 at Mission Hospital.  A native of Princess Anne County, Virginia, he was son of the late John F. Woodhouse, Sr. and Bessie Woodhouse.  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Paula Boling Woodhouse and a son, John F. Woodhouse, III.

 

     Jack graduated from University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and then entered the OCS where he became a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army.  He married Paula Boling in 1950 and was married 40 years until her death in 1990.  He owned and operated Standard Paper Sales Company.  He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.

 

     He remained a very active member in his church and many civic organizations.  He was president of International Sanitary Supply Association and actively participated in regional organizations.

 

     Gardening was very important to Jack and he looked forward every year to bushels of tomatoes, corn and beans.  He enjoyed working with wood and built many pieces of furniture for family and friends. He loved traveling and enjoyed many trips with his wife, Suzanne.

 

     He is survived by his wife Suzanne Woodhouse, a daughter, Dr. Lauren Harting and her husband, Brent of  Hebron, IN; a daughter-in-law, Terri Woodhouse of  Asheville; two step-daughters, Lael Kmecza and her husband, Steve Seinberg of Asheville and Nicole Hattler and her husband, Rich of  Asheville; a sister, Betty Frost Mayo of  Winchester, VA; five grandsons, Paul, William and Jacob Woodhouse and Benjamin and Barton Harting; three step-granddaughters, Ana Gwyn Wilson, Sawyer Seinberg and Calista Hattler and one step-grandson, Alec Hattler.

 

     A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at Grace Episcopal Church with Rev. Gary Coffey and Rev. Howard Hanger from Jubilee Community Church officiating.  Private inurnment will be held at Lewis Memorial Park.
