Philip Jerome Cohen, 75, of Beaverdam Run died Thursday, June 19, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital.  A native of Paterson, NJ he was son of the late Joseph and Esther Kanter Cohen. 

     Mr. Cohen retired to Asheville in 1994 from Brooklyn, NY, where he was the executive director of the JCH of Bensonhurst working for Soviet Jewry.  He also worked for Huntington’s Disease Society of America.  He was an active member of the JCC, Beth Israel Congregation, Beth Ha Tephila, Maccabi Academy, College for Seniors, WCCSC, Beaverdam Run Condominium Association and NASW.  He enjoyed travel and living a healthy lifestyle.  He was a loving son, husband and father.

     He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Carol; his son, Harold Cohen of Brooklyn, NY; his daughter, Sara Cohen and her husband, Daniel Scher of New York, NY.

     A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, June 20, 2008, at Beth Israel Synagogue with Rabbi Robert Cabelli officiating.  Interment will follow at Lou Pollack Cemetery.
