Asheville-Lucy M. Courtney, 85, died Sunday, March 30, 2008 at The Oaks at Sweeten Creek of a brief illness.  She was a native of Burnsville, NC and had lived in Asheville for the last 64 years. She was a member of South Asheville Baptist Church and Lucy loved her home and working in her gardens.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert Courtney of Asheville; 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Robert D. Courtney and Alice of Texas, Gary and Diane Courtney of Hendersonville, NC; 3 daughters: Barbara Courtney of Sarasota, FL, Linda Baker and Kathy Courtney both of Asheville; two sisters: Gladys Tilson of Asheville and Betty Fox of Burnsville.   She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 from 7:00-9:00 PM at Morris Funeral Home with a graveside service on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Shepard’s Memorial Park with Joyce Wright officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals On Wheels 146 Victoria Road, Asheville, NC.
