ASHEVILLE-Theresa H. Kopec died peacefully March 29, 2008 at the John Keever Solace Center in Asheville NC.

Born in Swoyersville PA in 1911, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Theresa Asklar and the devoted wife of Michael F. Kopec, who preceded her in death in 1989.

Theresa and Michael F. Kopec lived in Luray VA for 50 happy years.  Mrs. Kopec was a former member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Luray and Our Lady of the Valley Ladies Guild of the Catholic Church; a member of the Tuesday Night Supper Club, as well as a member of the Leakesville Quilters Club in Luray.  An avid golfer, she was a member of the Shenvalee Ladies Golf Club in New Market, VA as well as the Luray Caverns Ladies Golf Club.

Mrs. Kopec moved to Ashville in 2000 and joined the parish of St. Eugene Catholic Church. She enjoyed participating in the Beaucatcher Quilt Group of Asheville.

Mrs. Kopec is survived by her daughter, Karen Kopec Engle, and her husband Stan, of Asheville NC; and her son Michael D. Kopec of Glen Allen VA.  Also surviving are six grandchildren, Michael, Steven and Andrea Kopec of Richmond VA and Christopher, Patrick and Katie Engle of Asheville NC.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of her life at the Morris Funeral Home, Monday, March 31 from 7:00-8:30 PM.  A Funeral Mass and burial will be in Luray VA on Thursday.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 200 Collins Avenue, Luray VA 22835 or to Asheville Catholic School Scholarship Fund, 12 Culvern Street, Asheville NC 28804.
