Margaret Anne Hartshorn was born December 21, 1933 and died March 19, 2008.  She was a native of Asheville, NC.  She graduated from St. Genevieve’s High School and attended Winston Salem Women’s College.  In her young adult years she lived in Texas.  In 1976 she returned to Asheville and raised her daughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Young, a brother, Edwin S. Hartshorn II, and her parents Edwin S. Hartshorn and Mary English.  She is survived by three children, Mark Young (Houston, Texas) and wife Sherri, John Young (Austin, Texas) and wife Alicia, and a daughter Laurel Kirchmeyer (Asheville, NC) and her husband Mike.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Paul, Peter, and Mary Young, and Olivia and Julia Young, and Andrew Kirchmeyer.

For nearly fifty years Margaret was a collector and dealer of antique dolls.  She was a member of the Land O’Sky Doll Club.  She had a great love for the mountain lore of the Appalachians and was a member of Groce United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be at Morris Funeral Home, 304 Merrimon Ave., March 21, Friday, 4-6 PM.  The Service of Celebration will be held on March 22,Saturday, 10 AM at Groce United Methodist Church.  Graveside Service immediately following at Riverside Cemetery.  Friends and family are invited to a reception after the service of interment at the home of Mike and Laurel Kirchmeyer, 2 Cambridge Road, Asheville, NC.  Memorials may be given to the Groce United Methodist Church.
