James L. Brown, 83, died at his residence on Saturday, March 15, 2008.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Marian Campbell Brown; a daughter, Karen Brown Pasour and her husband, Tim, of Swannanoa; two sons, Phillip Lee Brown of Asheville and Clay Randall Brown of Canton, NC.; a sister Dorothy “Dot” Ayers and her husband Carroll of Central, SC.; and four grandchildren; Whitney Brown of Charleston, SC, Jason McMahan of Raleigh, NC, Randall Brown of Pigeon Forge, TN. and Tyler Pasour of Swannanoa, NC.
Mr. Brown was a US Navy veteran of World War II. He was employed at Swift & Company for 34 years as the Office Manager and Comptroller. Mr. Brown was a loving and devoted husband, father and “Papaw” and he was also a loyal and faithful servant at Oteen Baptist Church.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 12:00 at Oteen Baptist Church in Asheville. Interment will be held at the North Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. Military honors will be rendered by the Buncombe County Veterans Memorial team. The Family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Morris Funeral Home.
