Parent Participation and Rights

Parents have rights and are encouraged to participate in their child's Montessori education.

You, the parent, are your child’s first teacher; passing on your own morals, values, ideals, personal likes and dislikes, customs and traditions.  Because of this, you are equally important in the classroom.

If your schedule allows, please ask to spend time visiting Montessori International on a pre-determined schedule.  You may feel there are contributions you would like to share with the children and Staff.  It can be as simple as a hobby or insights for the children into your own profession.  Montessori International and your child need you.  It is tremendously valuable for your child to see you actively participating at their school.

Parents have rights and are encouraged to participate in their child's Montessori education. At home, be interested in and receptive to your child’s stories, conversations and projects about school and goings on at school.  When your child brings home a paper or project they have completed, take the time to sit with them alone and allow them to explain it to you.  Please take care not to cross examine; be truly interested in the effort, not in trying to test your child’s intelligence.  Cheer the effort.

Be positive, encouraging and appreciative. Remember, it is the responsibility of Montessori International to provide the formal education.  Your prime responsibility is to support your child in offering their best in their educational endeavors.
