Many patients do not regularly visit their dentist due to
anxiety, or fear of dental prcedures. Many patients are absolutely horrified to go to the dentist for routine care, simple fillings, or major work. This leads to more problems as diseases of the teeth continue to escalate. The office of Dr. Michael R. Johnson, as the old adage says, "caters to cowards." Our office can prescribe a patient an anti-anxiety drug such as valium, xanax, attivan, etc. The patient takes the anti-anxiety drug one to two hours prior to their scheduled appointment. The patient has a relative or friend drive them to their appointment and wait on them. When the patient arrives they are escorted to the operatory where the dental procedure takes place. While the dental procedure is being performed, the patient is constantly monitored by trained staff. Nitrous oxide, or gas, can also be administered during the visit. The cost for an anti-anxiety drug is usually less than $10.00, and most insurance plans cover the cost of these medications. So if you've put off having that crown or root canal done because of fear or anxiety, call Dr. Johnson's office for an appointment.
