Summer is here again! Time for fun at the Bear Club!

Bear Club Summer Camp is an exciting place for School Agers to spend their summer. During the school year The Bear Club is open to Bear Club Alumni on weekdays when school is out. (i.e. Spring Break) There is a fee for those days. A link to the Shelby County Schools Calendar is at the bottom of this page.

ACTIVITIES

The first week of summer camp your child will be assigned to a color group. These are then further divided by gender and into age appropriate groups. These color groups are how you will keep up with where your child is going each day. This summer there will be a lot of activities each week, so be sure and pick up a weekly schedule of events. This will let you know what your child might need for each field trip, for example: money, towel, socks, sunscreen, sunglasses, etc.

The Weekly Schedule of Events is posted every Thursday for the upcoming week. There will also be take home copies available at the front desk and by the sign out books. A list of field trips by color group is available on this website on the page titled Weekly Field Trips. There is a link to go back to Weekly Field Trips at the bottom of this page.

SUMMER CAMP COSTS

Cost for Summer Camp is $110.00, plus the following: each Field Trip Fee(most are $5.00), Arts and T-Shirt Fee ($20.00), and a Full Summer Pool Pass ($65.00). The cost of most field trips will be $5.00, but some special trips will be more. These fees are posted on the Weekly Events Calendar. All swimming field trips are paid for in advance with your child's pool pass. This pass is $65.00 and it allows your child to swim for the entire summer on Bear Club field trips with their color group to Ellendale Lodge.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT TRANSPORTATION

Field trips will be taken either in the morning or afternoon. If your child is assigned a morning field trip they must be at the center no later than 8:30 A.M., since we must have an exact count before the vans leave. After the vans leave, we cannot send a van back to the center to pick up your child. Vans must be available at the field trip in case of emergency. Please DO NOT try to join us at the missed field trip, unless you first check with Ms. Ashley, to be sure that space is still available on the vans to transport your child back to the center.

BREAKFAST AND SNACKS

The center will provide breakfast in the morning between 6:30 and 8:00 A. M. Breakfast will consist of you child's choice of cereal, pop tarts, biscuits, muffins or donuts. (This can vary with availability.) Juice or milk will also be offered. A variety of snacks will be provided each afternoon. If your child wishes to bring special snacks for their whole group, (i.e for a birthday) please let the office know so that we can tell you how many are in your child's group.

LUNCH

Each child will need to bring a sack lunch each day, with his/her name on the outside of the sack. Please DO NOT send lunches in lunch boxes. Sack lunches will be stored in the refrigerator each day. If your child does not bring a drink, the center has water, juice and milk available. Be SURE your child packs a drink if the field trip calls for picnicking. Your field trip schedule will inform you when we will be transporting lunches on field trips.

WHAT YOUR CHILD NEEDS TO BRING

Each child will need to keep there belongings in a backpack, which will be stored in a locker or cloakroom. Some items your child might need are: pool shoes, sunscreen, sunglasses, extra socks, towel, and tennis shoes. Flip flops or slides may be worn to the pool, but not in the center, or at outside play, to avoid injuries. Please mark with permanent marker your child's name on any item they bring to summer camp.

FIELD TRIP RULES

1. Children are not allowed to go to the public restrooms unattended.
2. Children must stay with their group at all times. NO WANDERING!
