God’s Newest Angel
God called her home but she would not go. How could she go without a pink dress to wear? The newest angel had to have everything her way here on earth and she was determined if she was to go to Heaven, she was going on her own terms, in the most beautiful pink dress. Even though God had closed her eyes and prepared her body for the ride home, she would not take one step towards her long journey until she had her pink dress to wear.
God tried to reason with the newest "angel" and tell her that her work on earth was through. He reminded her of the many lives she had touched and the hearts of people that had been changed, even though she had never met them. He told her of the joy she had brought to her family, even if only for a little while, and He assured her their hearts would not be empty with her gone but rather overflowing with the pure joy and love she had filled them with.
But the newest "angel" had made up her mind. She had to have the prettiest pink dress in Heaven, she wanted to make an impact on Heaven like she had done on earth. God spoke to the newest "angel" again and told her that all of the little angels in Heaven would be wearing white dresses when she met them, so there was no need for her to worry about having a pink one. This still did not convince the newest "angel". If she was going to Heaven she would be wearing pink.
So, our loving God smiled down at the newest "angel" in her pink dress and picked her up in his arms and took her to Heaven. God placed her on a cloud with other angels her age to play with.
Seeing her beautiful pink dress, all of the other little angels asked God if they too could wear colored dresses in Heaven. When God looked into their eyes he knew he could never resist a child’s request, so he agreed.
So, that is why when you look up and see that rainbow in the sky, that beautiful sunset or the many colors that paint the sky at sunrise, you will know it is only God’s newest angel and her friends at play in their beautiful many colored dresses.
