History of Lee and Lee Attorneys:

Robert E. Lee began practicing law in Lebanon, Tennessee in 1959. Eighteen years later, in 1977, his son, Robert Evans Lee joined him in the practice of law and Lee and Lee Attorneys was founded. Robert E. Lee's younger son, J. Mark Lee, joined the firm in 1988.

In December 2006, Robert E. Lee passed away survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Lee. Robert Evans Lee and his brother Mark Lee continue to operate the firm today.

As the story has been told, Robert E. Lee came to acquire the building which is currendy home to the firm by somewhat of an accident. In 1977, Mr. Lee was walking down the sidewalk in front of 109 East Gay Street one morning to get a cup of coffee at the City Cafe. The building was being auctioned at that very moment he was walking by. The auctioneer shouted to Mr. Lee to make a bid so Mr, Lee made a bid but kept walking to get his cup of coffee. After buying his coffee and without giving the auction any more thought, Mr. Lee ventured back to his office. As he walked back in front of the building, the auctioneer informed Mr. Lee that he was the proud new owner of the building. Lee and Lee Attorneys has been housed in that building ever since.
