Phillip R. Langsdon, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Langsdon obtained his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. While in medical school, he was awarded The Medical Student Research Fellowship, The March of Dimes Medical Student Research Fellowship, and The Summer Oncology Fellowship. He was named the Barton Scholar upon graduation. He knew early on that he wanted to specialize in surgery of the face. He first trained in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Indiana University; then he underwent advanced training in a year long Fellowship devoted exclusively to cosmetic surgery of the face through the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Langsdon's twenty-one year old private practice is limited to facial plastic surgery. He is a tenured Professor at the University of Tennessee and Chief of the Division of Facial Plastic Surgery. A frequent lecturer on the topics of cosmetic surgery, he has dedicated himself to the pursuit of excellence in this field. He has authored several medical articles, book chapters, and a medical textbook. He has given over 100 medical lectures on topics related to plastic surgery of the face. He has appeared nationally on The Today Show, Headline News (worldwide), CSPAN, and has been quoted in national publications, and is a frequent lecturer throughout the U.S. He has been selected for inclusion in the Best Doctors in America list by Woodward/White, Inc. Dr. Langsdon is also listed in the Guide to Americas' Top Physicians by Consumers' Research Council of America.

He is active in many church and civic programs. He has served in a medical mission to the nation of Haiti, and he actively and financially supports patient care and education programs for that country. Dr. Langsdon also helps the underserved in the Mid-South by providing reconstructive facial surgical service for the working poor and by serving as a Professor at the University of Tennessee, directing residents and operating on facial trauma patients at The Regional Medical Center of Memphis.

Dr. Langsdon is board certified by two specialty boards, each concerned with plastic surgery of the face: the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Board of Otolaryngology (head and neck surgery). He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is also fully fellowship trained through the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a member of the Tennessee Medical Society and the Memphis Medical Society. His practice is limited to facial plastic surgery. Dr. Langsdon has been in practice in Memphis since 1986.
