Storage Guide
Fort Knox Self Storage would like to provide you with the following storage tips so that you can make the most out of your storage unit:
Make a list of the items you intend to store. It will also serve as a reminder of what you have stored.- Place items that need to be accessed frequently at the front of the storage space for easy access.
- Pack your boxes and other belongings as closely as possible in your storage unit to avoid moisture accumulation.
- Don't use plastic to cover your belongings; it retains moisture.
- Arrange the heavy items at the bottom of the box and the lighter ones at the top to avoid any damage.
- Have a uniform size for storage boxes for easier storage of your items.
- To allow ventilation, leave a small space between your boxes and the storage space wall.
- To identify your belongings easily, label all boxes in your self-storage unit.
- Purchase stored property insurance. If your belongings are worth storing, they are worth insuring.
- Use a good quality lock on your door. Check your unit regularly, at least once a month.
- Review your storage contract for items that may not be kept at the storage facility. You may generally store any unhazardous, nontoxic, or nonperishable material in the facility. State laws determine what may be stored.
