JOHN F. JANKOWSKI

Jankowski, Jr. offers his clients more than eighteen (18) years of seasoned, legal experience in all areas of commercial transactions, corporate and employment law, real estate and family law as well as complex civil litigation. Mr. Jankowski personally handles business and partnership matters involving the purchase and sale of properties and business interests which includes the valuation, transfer, merger and liquidation of personal and company assets through drafting agreements, mediation, arbitration and courtroom litigation. He represents diversified clients in commercial transactions and residential real estate matters (including buyers, sellers and lenders) from contract negotiations to closing and oversees bank financing, title insurance, and conveyances of single and multi-parceled properties. Mr. Jankowski's practice also includes individual representation in family law matters from the preparation of wills and pre-nuptial agreements, to divorce and post-dissolution modification proceedings. This includes paternity actions, child support, alimony, restraining orders, together with the investigation, valuation and equitable distribution of marital assets.

In addition, Mr. Jankowski represents both employers and employees in all areas of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, overtime and whistle-blower claims and engages in court enforcement and defense of trade secrets, non-compete and confidentiality agreements including temporary and permanent injunctions. His extensive background in business, corporate and family law is further complemented by his many years of trial experience in both State and Federal Courts and in arbitration. Mr. Jankowski's corporate practice includes overseeing both start-up and established companies to ensure compliance in ongoing business operations including partnership, LLC and shareholder agreements as well as employment contracts and personnel manuals, together with client support through his personal attention and hands-on involvement.

Mr. Jankowski earned his Juris Doctor Degree in 1989 from the University of Miami School of Law, and earned his Bachelors Degree, Magna Cum Laude, in 1981 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he also received highest honors, Sobresaliente, from the Universidad de Valladolid in Spain. Mr. Jankowski's international business experience includes his previous tenure as Vice President of Sales for Latin America and the Caribbean with a UK based subsidiary of the multinational P&O transportation group. He is conversant in Spanish and represents an international clientele.

Professionally, Mr. Jankowski is a member of the Florida Bar, the Supreme Court of Florida, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and the U.S. 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a member of the Trial Lawyers; the Labor and Employment Law; the Business Law; Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law; and the Family Law Sections of the Florida Bar. In addition, Mr. Jankowski has served many years in the volunteer Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) Program, as well as his active support of various ministries in serving persons with special needs and in coaching youth sports.

Hannah is an experienced civil trial attorney who has successfully represented corporations and individuals in the Florida federal and state courts, before federal and state administrative agencies, and in arbitration for more than twenty years. Mr. Hannah has extensive experience in the area of employment law, including employment-related litigation such as unlawful discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Equal Pay Act of 1963, and the Florida Civil Rights Act of 1992; wage and hour claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act; unlawful retaliation claims, including whistleblower claims, under various federal and state statutes; and claims under non-compete agreements and employment contracts. Mr. Hannah’s practice also includes advising clients on litigation prevention techniques, employment contract development and preparation, personnel manual and employment policy development and preparation, and employee benefits issues.

Although the emphasis of his practice is employment law, Mr. Hannah also has substantial trial experience in fair housing litigation, construction defect litigation, admiralty and maritime tort litigation, insurance coverage litigation, complex business tort litigation, and general commercial litigation. He is admitted to practice before all of the Florida state trial and appellate courts (including the Supreme Court of Florida), the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida, and the United States Courts of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Mr. Hannah is a graduate of Davidson College (B.A., 1981) and the State University of New York at Buffalo (J.D., cum laude, 1984). He has been a featured speaker at numerous seminars and panel presentations on various employment law issues, including sexual harassment, disability discrimination, unlawful retaliation, ethnic diversity in the workplace, maintaining a drug-free workplace, and interviewing and hiring skills. He is also the author of various articles for professional journals, including articles dealing with a wide range of employment-related topics.
