James M. Hinkebein, M.D., F.A.A.P.

James M. Hinkebein, M.D., F.A.A.P.James Hinkebein, M.D., F.A.A.P., was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. He and his wife, Sue, have raised three fine young men.

Dr. Hinkebein is a graduate of St. Xavier and is currently a St. Xavier Team Physician.

Dr. Hinkebein graduated in 1969 from the University of Louisville with a BA in Biology and Chemistry. He graduated #1 in Pediatrics from University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1974. He completed his Internship and Residency in Pediatrics at Kosair Children's Hospital University of Louisville. He was the recipient of the University of Louisville 1982 Radiology Award. Dr. Hinkebein is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He has been Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics since 1981.

His solo practice began in 1979. In 1982 he started his partnership with Dr. Bruce A. Davis. In 1990 the group practice expanded to include Dr. Thomas E. McCormick. In 1996 Dr. Lorraine Rust joined the practice. In 2005 Dr. Hinkebein's son, Dr. Nicholas Hinkebein, joined the practice and in 2008 became a group partner.

Dr. Jim is affiliated with Norton/Kosair Children's Hospital, Baptist Hospital East, Suburban Hospital and University Hospital. He has served on many Kosair Children's Hospital committees over the years, and was Chairman of the Surgical Case Review Committee from 1987 to 1995 and secretary/treasurer of the medical staff in 1993 and 1994. From 1979 to 1981, he was medical consultant to the Louisville Autistic School. He was President Elect of Medical Staff in 1994 and 1995, was President of Medical Staff at Kosair Children's Hospital in 1996, and was named Top Doc by his peers.

Dr. Hinkebein's concern for the health and well-being of children and adolescents is of the utmost importance to him.

Dr. Hinkebein enjoys spending time with his wife, sons, grandchildren and other family members. In his spare time, you can catch him on the golf course, mastering woodworking and gardening. He and his wife are involved in several charity events.
