Dr. Carl Hines grew up in Minden, graduating as valedictorian of his class before going to LSU-Shreveport to college. He then attended LSU Medical School in Shreveport and did his internship there. He and his wife, Peggy have two grown children and six grandchildren. Dr. Hines served as an inspiration to his niece, Dr. Kelly Morgan Carlisle and she now has an internal medicine/pediatric practice in Minden.
He has roots in Webster Parish since his grandparents and his mother grew up here. Dr. Hines came home to practice medicine because the town is a good place to live, work and raise a family. The crime rate is low and the citizens care about Minden.
Dr. Carl Hines is an active member of First Baptist Church in Minden where he sings in the choir and serves as substitute Sunday School teacher. He is also a member of the Gideon's International, an organization that passes out Bibles to students and also supplies the hotels with copies for each room. Dr. Hines is a Mason and a Shriner, which is the highest rank and honor bestowed in the Masonic Lodge. This group supports the Shriner's Hospital in Shreveport as well as others throughout the country. Along with these organizations he is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, and has professional memberships in the American Medical Association, Southern Medical Association, and the state and the Webster and Caddo Parish Medical Societies. He supports many other organizations, some of which are the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, March of Dimes and many others.
