 Graduated
from National University of San Marcos, Lima, Peru in 1974.
He did his internship and residency in general surgery at Franklin
Square Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Then he went for training
in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Texas
Health Science Center at San Antonio. He also served as
a Clinical Instructor and Assistant Clinical Professor in the
Department of Surgery at UT Health Science Center at San Antonio.
He is also certified
in general surgery, and in colon and rectal surgery.
He is fellow of the American Board of Surgeons and fellow of
The American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
