Mrs. Claudianell B. Cooper has been an outstanding member of the Jacksonville community for 25 years. Putting her entrepreneurial spirit to the test, she founded and developed “First Coast Cleaning Services” in 1985, specializing in commercial cleaning services.
As her first endeavor became successful, Mrs. Cooper used her time, creative talent and business expertise in another area. She designed and developed a new product called “Sports Wrap.” This is a new start up company, which has an exciting and promising future. Before she became an independent business owner, Mrs. Cooper enjoyed a wonderful career in community service. Working in public service for the City of Jacksonville, from 1976 to 1985, she established a successful legacy in several areas.
In 1976, Mrs. Cooper started her public service career in the north Florida area as the Program Coordinator and Social Worker for the Human Resource Senior Citizens Division. This position was an exciting challenge as it involved planning all the activities for the Senior Centers in Jacksonville.
In 1977, she began to work in the City of Jacksonville 's Mayor's Office, developing goals objectives and action plans for the Affirmative Action Plan. She was key in media relations, developing training programs and workshops for management and non-manaagement, and as Liaison Officer for the Minority Business Enterprise Programs.
Before coming to Jacksonville, Mrs. Cooper worked in Lexington, Kentucky. It was there that her public service career originated. She was employed from 1972 to 1975 as an Advisor/Social Worker with Bureau of Housing Rehabilitation & Relations. There, she worked closely with participants and property owners to relocate families who had been displaced as a result of governmental action.
Mrs. Cooper began her business career in 1972 as co-owner and manger of The Chicken Post, a busy fast food restaurant in Lexington. Here, she acquired the business management and networking skills that started her career in the business world.
Raised in Augusta, Georgia, Mrs. Cooper graduated from Lucey Laney High School. She then moved to Frankfort, Kentucky where she studied and graduated from the Kentucky State University with her Bachelor of Arts Degree. Mrs. Cooper has been published in the Women in Business Journal and was chosen to be a representative in the African Americans in Business Calendar. She enjoys membership in various professional organizations including the University Club in Jacksonville, Florida .
Residing in Jacksonville, Florida, Mrs. Cooper enjoys her family, which includes her son, Dr. Royce McGowan. Although busy with various business enterprises, she is actively involved in many community volunteer organizations such as Adopted Family Program. A deeply spiritual person, Mrs. Cooper attends the First Baptist Church of Mandarin, where she volunteers in the Children's Nursery Department.
