Treatment Process

WE ARE HERE TO HELP!
We meet you where you are in your addiction.

recovery, addiction recoveryThe residential program at the Fernwood House is a 45-day to 90-day program that provides a comprehensive treatment experience. A treatment plan will be developed with your input to address your particular social, emotional, spiritual, nutritional, psychological and occupational needs.
During the course of your treatment stay, individual, group, family experiential, psycho-educational, relapse prevention, nutritional, recreational, dual diagnosis and 12-step therapies will be provided. We can provide therapy for those who may have other compulsive behaviors such as gambling, nicotine, or sexual addictions.
All residents will participate in a daily AA and/or NA meetings. Our 24-hour staff coverage ensures that you have the personalized and on-going support you need during the treatment process. Our purpose is to facilitate your successful transition from a lifestyle of active addiction to a lifestyle of recovery from the addiction.

We utilize the Disease Concept of addiction, more specifically a disease of the brain. Therefore, we believe that addicts are people with an illness. While a resident in our facility, you will be treated with dignity and respect. You will also be challenged and encouraged to accept your illness and to take personally motivated action to improve the quality of your life and to beak the cycle of self-abuse, which has manifested in active addiction. When people are ambivalent about changing, they need help with identifying their values, goals and dreams and then to see the discrepancies between them.

The first two weeks of the program is called the adjustment phase, which allows the resident the needed time to begin to reflect on his life and the reality of his condition. It is also a time for the treatment team to make assessments and begin the process of treatment planning. The treatment plan that is developed for each resident in part will be based on the resident’s length of stay. Each resident will develop a comprehensive plan for continuing care with their primary counselor as they proceed through treatment. The plan will be developed by the resident and the treatment team and based on the agreed upon Stage of Change.
