The Fernwood House provides medically-supervised detoxification and stabilization that is both safe and comfortable. We have the capability to provide sub-acute detox on-site utilizing a traditional detox reginmen.
In addition, we also offer Neuro-Transmitter Restoration (NTR) using an amino acid protocol. NTR has been found to reduce substance abuse craving during the withdrawal period and significantly reduce physical, emotional and cognitive effects of substance withdrawal. The medical team may prescribe amino acid treatments to address ongoing substance cravings. The typical length of the amino acid protocol is 10 days; however, the length of the program is determined by the Medical Director on an individual basis. The amino acids provide nutrition that accelerates the repairing of brain receptors, which results in reduction of craving and allows the recovering person to feel more comfortable about not using.
