When Randi and I moved to Birmingham in 1994, we weren't sure what to expect. What we found was a great lifestyle city with friendly people. We were impressed by a vibrant arts community, museums, dance, symphony and theater, and by the outstanding quality of dining and shopping available. Birmingham is a great place to live.

But something was missing. Whenever we wanted to buy contemporary furniture, lighting, accessories or rugs, it was off to Atlanta. It seems that in the 1960s, when the major European manufacturers first established distributors in the Southeast, Atlanta was awarded Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee. Perhaps 30 years ago that made sense.

Today's Alabamian is more sophisticated, more cosmopolitan, more traveled and more diverse in their tastes. Our customers subscribe to Metropolitan Home, Elle Decor, Architectural Digest, Metropolis and Wallpaper. They watch HGTV. You live in Hoover, Mountain Brook, Southside, Crestwood, Greystone, English Village, Forest Park, Downtown lofts, Vestavia, Mobile, Cullman, Montgomery, Tuscaloosa, and Huntsville. You have a second home in Seaside, Seagrove, Rosemary Beach, Destin, Smith Lake or Lake Logan Martin. You know what is current, tasteful and enduring, and you want your home to be comfortable and to reflect your personal style.

To best serve you, Randi and I first corresponded with some 1,500 manufacturers of quality contemporary design. Then it was off to Milan where we crawled under tables, removed drawers and examined goods. The criteria were, and are: it must look good; it must be well made; it has to be comfortable; and it has to be well supported by the manufacturer. It is important to us that you use and enjoy what you buy from us. Should there ever a problem, we want to be certain that it will be corrected promptly and with a minimum of inconvenience to you. For that reason we have focused on a core group of high quality manufacturers who we feel offer the greatest value.
