Reptile Tips
Iguanas and Snakes – These reptiles need supplemental heat during cold months. We do not recommend heat rocks due to their point source of heat, which frequently leads to thermal burns that can be quite serious. Because of their physiology, this animal's metabolism does not operate at peak performance when they are too cool. This means their digestion, immune and reproductive systems may not function properly, making the animal more susceptible to disease.
For Iguanas, we recommend the full spectrum Ceramic Heat Bulbs mounted above the cage, but not so far away that the heat dissipates before reaching the animal. Also strive for Thermal Zones within the enclosure so that if the animal gets too hot it can move away.
