Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) is a U.S. privately owned and operated independent, third party, product safety testing and certification organization. Its base is in Northbrook, Illinois, and it is responsible for the development of standards and test procedures for products, materials, components, assemblies, tools and equipment. Its main responsibility is product safety. UL is approved by the U.S. federal agency, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Although UL does not give its “approval” of products or systems, it does evaluate them for compliance to specific requirements. It also gives a certification mark, “UL Listed” or “UL Approved,” to products or systems that adhere to their standards. The fact that we are “UL Listed” means that our subscribers can rely on us to provide the best local alarm monitoring.
