| One issue
that faces every installation contractor is jobsite safety.
The work is risky and unforgiving. Yet installers use unsafe
practices everyday. When questioned on the lack of safety
precautions, the general answer from the old hands is..."they
slow down the work". "I've been doing it this way
for years".
Like
any tool you work with daily, safety equipment can improve
the work flow. Many say for instance that safety harnesses
impede movement through racks and therefore slow down the
installation process. That's bull!
Harnesses
at substantial heights inspire confidence in the worker.
A confident worker moves efficiently. If a fall happens
...and it will, safety equipment will prevent serious injury.
Most
accidents happen to the old hands. Those with the most experience
and the most valuable members of the team. Experience is
their worst enemy when it comes to safety.
If you
are an installer or contractor, insist that necessary safety
equipment be available and used on your jobsites.
You
will profit from it.
