David G. Burkett, M.D., F.A.C.C., F.S.C.A.I. specializes in interventional cardiology. He was the first physician in northeast Louisiana to perform intracoronary stenting, coronary athrectomy (rotoblator), myocardial biopsy, transseptal cardiac catheterization and acute primary angioplasty for myocardial infarction (heart attack). He is also the first physician in the area to perform transesophageal echocardiograms and to have implanted the first rate responsive dual chamber pacemaker. He is the only physician to have performed aortic valvuloplasty in the area.
Dr. Burkett served as Chief of the Department of Medicine at St. Francis Medical Center from l993 – 1994. He served as Chief of Cardiology and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at North Monroe Medical Center from 2003 – 2005.
Dr. Burkett received a B.S. degree in Biochemistry from Albright College in 1972. He graduated from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia , PA with an MD degree in 1976. He served 8 years in the United States Air Force Medical Corps, completing his medical internship in l977 and internal medicine residency in l979. Dr. Burkett completed four cardiovascular medicine fellowships:

- UCLA/St. Mary's Medical Center specializing in interventional cardiology, 1988
- Cardiac MRI/MRA at Washington University, St. Louis, MO , 2004

Dr. Burkett is ABIM certified in Internal Medicine and the subspecialty of Cardiovascular Disease. Dr. Burkett has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and was elected a Fellow of the Society for Cardiac Angiography & Interventions in 2003.
Dr. David G. Burkett provides comprehensive medical care in the areas of general cardiology, lipid management, hypertension, preventative cardiology and peripheral vascular medicine. He is credentialed to perform coronary angiography, athrectomy, cardiac catheterization, intracoronary stenting, transesophageal echocardiography, general echocardiography, nuclear cardiology stress testing, cardiac MRI/MRA, pacemaker implantation including bi-ventricular devices and defibrillators.

Scott Burkett, M.D., F.A.C.P. specializes in electrophysiology and pacemaker therapy. He is the only electrophysiologist practicing in Northeast Louisiana . Dr. Burkett received his B.S. Degree from Southern Methodist University in Electrical Engineering in 1992. He earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University New Orleans in 1996.
He then completed 8 years of postgraduate medical education:

- Cardiology Fellowship, Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, 1999-2002

Dr. Burkett is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. He is Board Eligible in Electrophysiology. He is licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana, Texas, and Illinois. Dr. Burkett is a Fellow in the American College of Physician's, Associate Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and Associate Member of the North American Society for Pacing & Electrophysiology.
Dr. Burkett has a special interest in ablation and device therapy for life threatening ventricular arrhythmias. A third major interest is pacemaker therapy for heart failure.
Dr. Burkett joined Burkett Cardiovascular Associates in August 2004 and welcomes new patients for both general cardiology and electrophysiology.
