Coopertown original 40 minute public tour
Our professional airboat guides will take you on a personalized, educational airboat tour covering approximately seven to eight miles of this unique environment. We first go into the vast open sawgrass, where you will see why the Everglades are called the "River of Grass!" You will travel by airboat through a hardwood hammock (a small island of solid ground in the "river of grass"), into the Everglades National Park, stopping at alligator holes and a chance to see the abundance of 'glades wildlife. See the Purple Gallanule, voted the most colorful bird in Florida, and the endangered Everglade Snail Kite, as well as herons, grackles, turtles, raccoons and other Everglades residents! The Everglades are a truly unique and vibrant environment which you can only experience first-hand!
The Coopertown Airboats fleet consists of 12 airboats in operation; the largest airboat has a seating capacity of 24 people. The smaller two-seater has been hired for movie, documentary filming, and fashion photo shoots for clients from all over the world.
Coopertown Airboats also offers a variety of specialty and private airboat tours including sunset, night airboat rides. Our two most popular private airboat tours are described below.
1-HOUR "TASTER" AIRBOAT TOUR
This introductory airboat tour gives you a taste of what the Everglades have to offer. We will venture 20 miles through the open sawgrass prairies of the Everglades National Park, where you will see alligators, unique birds and other wildlife native to the Everglades. We will also a visit one of the small islands on this tour.
2-HOUR "ADVENTURE" AIRBOAT TOUR
The two-hour tour brings you further into the Everglades National Park expansion lands. On this adventurous group or private airboat tour, you will travel much deeper into the Everglades National Park, where you will see the Duck Club. Built in the 1950s and used as a hunting camp by the Miami Rod and Gun Club. You will travel down the Blue Shanty Trail and observe a wide variety of the flora and fauna that the deep Everglades offers.
