Personal

Cindy Floyd has practiced law in Charleston, SC since 1987. A native South Carolinian, Cindy moved to Charleston in 1973 and lives on Johns Island with her husband, Pete Laurie. They enjoy bird watching and vegetable gardening. Cindy also participates in agility with her dogs.

She graduated from Reed College in Portland, Oregon, with a B. A. in Psychology and received her J. D. degree from the University of South Carolina Law School where she was President of the Women's Law Association.

After graduating from law school, she served as law clerk for Judge William T. Howell, former Chief Judge of the South Carolina Court of Appeals, while he was on the Circuit Court.

Civic

Cindy has served on Charleston County Planning Commission, Board of Girl Scouts of Eastern South Carolina, Board of League of Women Voters, Board of the Center for Women, Charleston County Parks Commission, and Charleston County Council, and she has served as Chair of the Human Rights Committee of the Coastal Center of the South Carolina Department of Mental Retardation.

Cindy M. She has served as Chair of Lawyer Referral Services Committee of the South Carolina Bar Association and as Executive Member of the Law of Reproductive Technology Committee of the Family Law Section of the American Bar Association.
