Q. Is there a contract?
A. There is a Policy Agreement however; there is no long-term time frame or schedule you must commit to. CHOICE understands that flexibility is important. That needs change. CHOICE provides services from 4 to 24 hours daily, 365 days per year. Service can be scheduled as needed, or on a regular basis. You choose what best suits your family’s needs.
Q. What shifts are available and how much do services cost?
A. CHOICE provides eleven different services and over 44 different shifts daily. Quite a task! However, we’re still happy to work with families to best suit their needs. Fees for services are provided on the rate card provided and are subject to the types and location of the services requested.
Q. What if mom and dad need assistance? Does it cost twice as much?
A. Not at all. If couples are living in the same home at the same time, the fees will cover the services for up to those two individuals. CHOICE simply registers and schedules them as a couple.
Q. Who are the caregivers? Are they nurses?
A. CHOICE schedules professionally screened caregivers who are Certified Nursing Assistants and Home Health Aides who have been certified by the state of Georgia and the National League of Nursing. The caregivers scheduled in your home have been prequalified to meet or exceed all the states rule and regulations for providing in-home care. Caregivers have been subjected to a complete and thorough background check, including personal, employment, and criminal background checks. Each caregiver has undergone a screening process that includes an extensive character and integrity, psychological profiling prior to being placed in your home. Our nurses conduct periodic, regular, in-home evaluations for added security and safety.
Q. Does CHOICE offer medical assistance also?
A. CHOICE provides non-medical, custodial services to individuals. However, whenever an individual requires skilled nursing, an alternate company can provide care while CHOICE continues to schedule caregivers for the daily custodial needs. CHOICE works hand in hand with those skilled providers hired by families to complete the circle of care needed. CHOICE provides the best option for independence and care.
Q. Do I have to interview the caregivers first?
A. CHOICE does all that for you. Based on your individual assessment and Care Plan, CHOICE matches the best candidates to your needs. Once CHOICE has your needs information through the assessment and registration process, we then match those needs with the caregivers best suited for your individual situation. Because CHOICE has such a large pool of professional caregivers available, we can usually place the right person immediately. However, if you are not completely satisfied, your caregiver will be replaced.
Q. Does insurance cover the cost of non-medical home care?
A. Only long-term care insurance covers services like these. Medicaid and Medicare do not currently provide for non-medical home care services.
Q. How quickly can service begin?
A. Typically CHOICE asks for 48 hours from the time the service request is made. However, we know situations arise that aren’t always expected. Our Community Awareness department is ready to take your call, and schedule on an emergency basis for those critical times.
Q. How do I get started?
A. Simply call CHOICE and ask for the Community Awareness department. A representative will take your call and schedule a time that is convenient to complete the assessment and Care Plan. In-home service will be scheduled as your needs demand.
