A fever is a rise in the body temperature over 100 degrees. For temperatures less that 100 degrees, do not administer fever-reducing medications.

Fever When Teething-The Myth
A common myth is that a child will run a fever when teething.

Do Not Give Aspirin for Fever
Using aspirin for children is often associated with the often fatal condition Reye’s Syndrome. DO NOT use aspirin as a fever reducer.
To reduce a child’s fever, use ibuprofen (Motrin) for a better fever reducer than acetaminophen (Tylenol). Make sure that you only administer this for oral temperatures over 100 degrees.

The BRAT Diet
When you child suffers from diarrhea, try the BRAT diet to help solidify body waste and prevent dehydration. BRAT stands for Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast.

If your child’s symptoms are severe or worsen, contact your pediatrician immediately.
