About us

chiropractic treatmentsWhat Is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a health care profession whose purpose is to diagnose and treat mechanical disorders of the spine and musculoskeletal system, with the intention of affecting the nervous system and improving health.

It is based on the premise that a spinal joint dysfunction can interfere with the nervous system and result in many different conditions of diminished health.

Accidents, falls, uneven stress, tension, overexertion, or any other factor which may cause an inability of the skeletal spine to function can cause derangement of one or more of these vertebrae of the spine, causing irritation to the spinal nerve roots directly by pressure or indirectly through reflexes.

By alleviating the irritation that produces the pain from the spinal nerves, the body is able to function more efficiently and the individual can lead a pain-free, productive life.

Background About Our Office

In 1972, Dr. Cheatham graduated as valedictorian of Franklin High School in Franklin, Tennessee.  From there, she received a Dental Hygiene Degree from St. Thomas Aquinas/Vanderbilt program.  She continued a few years later, receiving her BS/Doctorate of Chiropractic from National College of Chiropractic in 1988.

She entered her own private practice in 1989 in Smyrna, Tennessee, where she has been practicing to the present day.  Dr. Cheatham has continued her education by taking 100 hours of graduate classes in Sports Medicine, 250 hours in Acupuncture, and 200 hours in Homeopathy.

Her chiropractic techniques include Diversified, Thompson Drop, BEST, and the use of the activator.  But her success has been with her own technique that she performs through the use of the drop table and her palpation skills to manipulate the body.  It is a gentle touch, along with precision in aligning the musculoskeletal spine.
