Health
and Safety
. . . . . . . . . . .
THE
HEALTH AND SAFETY OF YOUR CHILD
Your
child's health is a matter of major importance to all of us. Upon
enrollment, you must file with us a health form signed by a physician
if your child is under 30 months. All children must have a Tennessee
immunization form and tuberculin clearance.
**Please keep your child home if he/she is:
Running a fever
Vomiting - Diarrhea
With communicable disease such as: Chicken Pox, Measles, Roseola
etc.
We will keep you posted on any outbreaks of communicable diseases.
A notice will be placed on the bulletin board next to the reception
area.
**In case of accidental injury, we will make an immediate attempt
to contact a parent. If we can't reach you, we will call the child's
physician. If necessary, we will also call an ambulance or the paramedics.
Until the arrival of a parent, the physician, an ambulance, or paramedics,
the Director or Assistant Director will be in charge and make all
decisions about the care of the child. It is to your child's benefit
that you keep the center up-to-date on phone numbers, emergency
numbers, and other pertinent information.
AUTHORIZATION
TO PICK UP CHILD
No
child will be released to a person not authorized by a parent. We
must have written authorization in this respect.
WHAT
TO WEAR
Think of your child's comfort--provide simple clothing, free of
complicated fastenings. This is very important for the potty training
stage. Children being potty trained should have pants or shorts
with elastic waistbands. Think of messy art materials and other
messy activities--provide clothing that is washable.
PLEASE LABEL ALL CLOTHING AND BLANKETS!
TOYS
FROM HOME
Limit
your child to one toy. This should be a soft, snugly toy to be cuddled
with at naptime. Please leave all other toys at home. There are
many children that use this center and it is impossible for us to
keep track of several different toys per child. |

1:00 - 3:00 (2 years & up)
Please provide a SMALL BLANKET & BATH TOWEL for child's comfort.
**Our naptime procedure is as follows:
1.
Immediately following lunch, the children either play quietly, read books
or work puzzles. We also show age appropriate videos.
2. Children
are sent into nap area two or three at a time and are pleasantly
helped to get settled down. Each child is covered and softly spoken to
for
comfort and reassurance according to individual needs and moods.
3. When all
of the children are lying down, a record will play soft soothing music.
MEALTIME
All children
enrolled in the full-day program will receive breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks.
Breakfast will be served at 7:15. Children arriving after 7:30 should
have eaten breakfast. Lunch will be served at 11:15 for toddlers and all
other classes at 11:30. Menus are posted on the bulletin board near the
reception desk. All meals are well balanced and snacks are nutritious.
We follow USDA guidelines.
WE BELIEVE
IN FLEXIBILITY AND CHOICE!
Carousel Cottage will provide a creative and stimulating atmosphere where
your child is free to express him/herself as a child. At home, even though
children have a certain daily routine, they are not held to a rigid time
schedule. As frequently as possible, opportunities will be arranged so
that your child can choose to play indoors or out, alone or with others,
quietly or noisily, sitting or running. With this type of flexibility,
children readily adhere to strict scheduling and group activities when
necessary, such as story time, mealtime and naptime. We will be alert
for "teachable moments" and provide many experiences for learning.
