CAROLINA EYE CENTER OFFERS BREAKTHROUGH CATARACT TREATMENTS
Until recently, life without reading glasses or bifocals was not an option for most cataract patients. You now have an option! The lens itself is made of an inert plastic and can provide good vision for the rest of your life. Many lenses even filter out potentially harmful ultraviolet rays, as well as blue light rays. Some studies indicate that blue light can decrease your risk of developing macular degeneration.
Monofocal vs. Multifocal
The AcrySof® ReSTOR® lens is more advanced than traditional IOLS because it's multifocal instead of monofocal. Monofocal lenses, as the name implies, can only give you clear distance vision-glasses are still needed to see up close. The AcrySof® ReSTOR® lens, on the other hand, can give you clear vision at all distances, from near to far. This is because it corrects both cataracts and the condition known as presbyopia, which causes many people to need reading glasses after their eyes age. In fact, 4 out of 5 patients in the supporting clinical study who had the AcrySof® ReSTOR® lens in both eyes, reported never having to wear glasses.

As explained when first visiting your facility, I had been wearing glasses since I was nineteen years old. That was after growing up not being able to play many sports and feeling like a bumbling fool because I could not see well beyond a couple of yards away. Only after jokingly trying on a friend's new pair of glasses while I was in the Army did I realize that I indeed needed glasses.
So there I was, wearing glasses every day since then until the age of sixty six when I visited you and your staff. Now, following the implants of the new Crystalenses, I am able to enjoy life without the constant need for glasses. I was even able to go out for the first time and shop for sunglasses; a trivial act for many people, but something I had missed throughout most of my life.
These pictures are a product of my hobby in photography which I did for most of my life, and is one of my first attempts at framing any of my photos for display.

I am very pleased with the results of having the Crystalens implanted. My vision today is not what it was when I was 20 years old; however, it is very close to what it was when I was 40. My distance vision had deteriorated to where I was no longer able to make out road signs or billboards until I was right next to them. I no longer have that problem. The improvement was immediate and large. As a patient at Carolina Eye Center, the experience has been pleasant and the very professional attitudes and demeanor of the staff is reassuring. I would recommend this lens over the standard lens to my family and friends.
