At Canine Complex, we specialize in Private, In-Home dog training. By utilizing private lessons, we can provide you with the tools you need to solve (or prevent) behavioral problems with your dog. Over the years, we have found this method to be extremely effective in helping clients and their dogs address all kinds of training needs.

Puppies

Private, In-Home training is extremely effective in teaching families how to raise their new puppy. We can teach you how dogs view their pack and how to integrate your new puppy into your family. We can teach you how to crate train and housebreak your new puppy. Simple things, like crate utilization, and when, where, and how to feed your dog, can go a long way to teaching your puppy its place in your pack. Establishing the pack order early in your puppy’s life can make your long-term relationship with your dog much healthier. Establishing the correct pack order will provide your dog with the structure it’s seeking, allowing you to receive his total respect and devotion.

General Obedience

Private lessons are also an excellent way to teach your dog general obedience. Teach your dog to sit, down, stay, come, settle, kennel, and to walk on a loose leash. Establishing a healthy relationship with your dog, along with teaching your dog general obedience is a terrific combination to avoid common behavioral problems. We utilize the ‘Clicker Training Method’ to teach general obedience. Clicker training, which has been the training method of choice for many years when training marine animals, utilizes operant conditioning to reward your dog for exhibiting desired behaviors. Using this method of communication with your dog teaches them to ‘think’ about what they need to do to get the reward. Once your dog knows the clicker method of learning, they will LOVE to work and to learn new behaviors. This methodology develops dogs that are eager to perform.

Problem Solving

In addition to avoiding bad behaviors, private lessons are also extremely effective in solving existing behavioral problems in dogs. Does your dog exhibit crate or separation anxiety? Does your dog jump up on you, chew up your belongings, bark excessively, or exuberantly greet your houseguests? We can teach you methods for dealing with all these issues and more. Lesson Structure

We offer Private Lessons on an hourly basis. Debbie will come to your home and work with you, your family, and your dog, in your environment. She will listen to your needs, your issues, and your goals. Then she will proceed to provide you with the training tools you and your family need in order to accomplish your specific objectives.
