C & L Used Auto Parts was originated in 1953 at 490 Georgia Ave. Gary Conger and Norman Lyle started C & L on an acre of land and built it to be one of the first salvage yards in Downtown Atlanta. In 1965 it was bought by Charlie Mason and George Baldersare. Charlie and George sold C & L to Hoyt Grimes in 1970. Hoyt and his two sons operated it till 1978 then sold the business to Art and Ann Graves. Ann and her two boys had to move C & L because of the property being sold to Smith Barrel Company. They moved C & L across the street on two acres of land after having a year long battle to get the zoning to move. Ann operated C & L until 1987 and then sold it to her son Mike Wallace. Mike, since then, has acquired two warehouses totaling 75,000 sq ft adjacent to the two acres with a total of 5 acres. These warehouses have been racked for storage of all kinds of automobile parts. The office was moved into one of the warehouses. All inventories are on computerized inventory system. With the touch of a button, your part can be accessed. |
