About Michael A. Callahan, M.D. and Associates, P.C.
Callahan
& Associates has maintained a tradition of excellence in eye care
for almost fifty years. Four skilled and experienced physicians provide
specialty and routine eye care, offering practically every eye service
for all family members, no matter what age. Our physicians' specialties
include no-stitch cataract surgery, plastic reconstructive and cosmetic
procedures and services such as general eye exams, contact
lenses and eyeglasses.
Michael A. Callahan, M.D.
Patients know that when they see Dr. Callahan, they will receive only the highest quality care and sincere dedication to healing.
A Birmingham native, Dr. Callahan received his medical degree at UAB. In private practice since 1976, he specializes in surgery of the eyes with emphasis on cataracts and eyelid plastic surgery.
Dr. Callahan is a professor of clinical ophthalmology at UAB and the Callahan Eye Foundation Hospital. He serves on the staff at UAB, St. Vincent's, Children's and Veteran Administration Hospitals.
He
is married and has 5 children.
Timothy J. Thompson, O.D.
Dr. Tim Thompson provides complete and comprehensive eye care with a personal approach by giving time and guidance.
Raised in Perry, Georgia, "Dr. Tim" attended Middle Georgia College before transferring to UAB. He then attended the University of Alabama School of Optometry, obtaining his Doctorate of Optometry degree in 1991.
Dr. Thompson left his private practice here in Birmingham to join us and has been an outstanding addition to our organization.
He is married
and has 2 children.
Julie H. Gannon, O.D.
Dr. Julie Gannon has been meeting the eye care needs of her patients since 1990. She continues her dedication by always listening to patients' needs and expectations, then using this information to develop proper treatment programs for eye care.
Originally from Mobile, Dr. Gannon attended the University of the South in Sewannee, Tennessee. She received her Doctorate of Optometry from UAB.
Dr. Gannon has been practicing in the Birmingham area since 1991 and we are honored to have her on our staff.
She
is married and has 3 children.
